You might ask yourself.... Unreleased? no i played that on an emulator a few years back...

Well, you may have played the translated one. But this here is the prototype.

It was meant originally to be released in America, But at the time Final Fantasy 4 was being released as final fantasy 2. they couldn't very well call it final fantasy 3

FF1 on NES

FF2 on SNES

FF3 on NES

??? no way. the games dialogue was almost close to completed before their pulled the plug.

Although the translated version is still preferred. this untouched version has the funny mistakes we all tend to look for

as quoted by Kaoru Moriyama; the English translator for square

"It is not at all close to completion, it just 'works."

When going into this game, one has to realize that the game hasnt been fully translated(as you can see by the video). Its only a prototype, so it hasnt been fully polished and touched up on. Square pretty much just did a bare bones translation and Nintendo of America hadn't yet cleaned it up. That doesnt mean the game is unplayable though. In certain parts of the game, The translation is even better than that of the neo demiforce version. The leveling system is completely different than the previous installment, now this isnt necessarily a good thing because its a bit harder to get used to. The more you use a weapon, the stronger it becomes. Its the same with magic. You have to use each individual magic spell 100 times before it levels up. Its kinda like the SaGa series, so get ready for some serious grinding. The game has gotten some flack for this new system(which consequently was the last time that its ever been used in a Final Fantasy game ) and its understandable considering how long it takes to gain levels. There is a glitch in the game, which enables you to trick the system into thinking you've used a weapon or magic spell a certain amount of times(look it up online, you'll see what i mean), so by using that tactic, leveling up is a cinch. Its really not that bad, once you get the handle of it. I just finished the game and i really enjoyed it. It gave me everything that i could ask for in a classic old school rpg. It has a great story (so much more depth than the original Final Fantasy ), hours and hours of gameplay, and characters that you feel for.  So if you look past all the little flaws, you'll see that there was some serious potential in this second installment. A real shame that the game was scrapped and never released because it really was a great sequel. For anybody looking for a great adventure, pick it up. it'll be sure to please
